BOLTON WANDERERS 1-2 NORWICH CITY
Saturday September 17, 2011
First half goals from Anthony Pilkington and Bradley Johnson guided the Canaries to their first win of the 2011-12 Premier League campaign at the fifth time of asking.
City began the season with successive 1-1 draws away to Wigan Athletic and home to Stoke City respectively, ahead of a harsh 3-1 reverse at Chelsea.
That was followed by a 1-0 defeat to West Brom at Carrow Road, before Paul Lambert's side made the journey North to face the Trotters.
The visitors were on the front foot for much of the opening period, and took a deserved lead on 37 minutes when Pilkington prodded home from inside the box.
They doubled their advantage just five minutes later, with Johnson rising highest to head beyond goalkeeper Jussi Jääskeläinen.
Bolton's task was made all the more difficult just moments before the interval; striker Ivan Klasnic being dismissed for an apparent headbutt on Marc Tierney.
Despite the loss of Klasnic, Owen Coyle's team rallied after the break and pulled a goal back courtesy of a Martin Petrov penalty shortly after the hour-mark.
However, City held on to secure victory and went on to end the season in 12th place.
