HOOPER: THE DRESSING ROOM IS BUZZING

12 April 2015

Gary Hooper wins it for City, immediately looks to the next battle.

GARY Hooper spoke of his delight after striking late to secure Norwich City a vital 2-1 win at Bolton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

The second half substitute was calmness personified as he lobbed home goalkeeper Adam Bogdan deep into injury-time to keep his side second with just four games of the regular campaign now remaining.

Such a dramatic winner took on even greater significance in the context of victories for the Canaries' main promotion rivals, and after the game Hooper told Norwich City TV: "It's a big goal so the dressing room is buzzing.

"My first touch wasn't the best after a great win in the air from Cam [Jerome] but then I opened my body up and dinked the 'keeper. It dipped at the last minute and then everybody jumped on me.

"That's all I remember. The fans were brilliant all game, so it was great to score in front of them and for them to go mad.

"The gaffer went for it by going three up-front and it paid off. It's a massive three points, and everyone knows it."

City will have little time to celebrate their success at the Macron Stadium, with the prospect of a visit to Leeds United's Elland Road next on the agenda in three days' time.

Hooper reiterated a collective desire to switch focus to the task ahead quickly, commenting: ""We're still second, but we've got to kick on again on Tuesday night now.

"Leeds away is not an easy game, but we've got a good squad which was shown by what we brought off the bench today. We don't want to draw; we need to win every game.

"We've got to rest up over the next few days and then we'll go again."
