LOAN ROUND-UP: TOWN RETURN FOR TOFFOLO

16 April 2015

Four City players make competitive appearances

In Sky Bet League One, Harry Toffolo returned to the Swindon Town starting line-up as they recorded successive victories over Peterborough and Rochdale.

The defender completed both matches, first helping his side to a 1-0 victory over Posh on Saturday ahead of a convincing 4-2 success at Spotland three days later.

Those results leave Mark Cooper’s team six points shy of second-placed Preston North End as they chase automatic promotion, although the Robins have a game in hand on their rivals.

The same division also saw a brace of appearances for Jacob Murphy, although he couldn’t prevent Colchester United from falling to a 1-0 defeat away to fellow strugglers Coventry City on Saturday.

The winger played 90 minutes at the Ricoh Arena, with Jim O’Brien’s solitary strike proving enough to settle the contest.

Colchester were then emphatically beaten 6-0 by Chesterfield on Tuesday evening in a game which saw Murphy withdrawn at half-time with the score at 3-0.

In the fourth tier, Cameron McGeehan was involved for the duration as Luton Town slipped to a late 1-0 home defeat against high-flying Burton Albion at the weekend.

McGeehan then played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday evening as the ten-man Hatters held out for a respectable 0-0 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge following Paul Benson’s first half red card.

City defender Michael Turner helped Fulham edge closer to Sky Bet Championship survival on Friday, completing the full match during their 2-2 draw with relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic.

The 31-year-old then further boosted the Cottagers' cause on Wednesday night as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Rotherham United; Turner once again playing 90 minutes.

Finally, Ricky van Wolfswinkel was an unused substitute in St-Etienne’s 1-0 win over Nantes on Sunday.
