Canaries downed by Joel hat-trick

NORWICH City Under-18s were beaten 4-2 by Blackburn Rovers at Brockhall on Saturday, despite strikes from Louis McIntosh and George Couzens.

The home side went in front with six minutes gone when striker Sam Joel converted at the second attempt after seeing his initial effort well saved by Canaries goalkeeper Aston Oxborough.

City responded well, and a dominant spell saw them deservedly draw level midway through the half when McIntosh struck from long-range.

Buoyed by that goal, the visitors went in front shortly after as an excellent run from Couzens culminated in the forward firing home.

Jerry Gill's side continuted to boss proceedings, only for Rovers' forward Joel to equalise from the penalty-spot shortly before the break.

That strike proved to be a turning point, with Mark Edgar's corner on the hour-mark eluding everyone in the box to go directly into the net prior to Joel completing his treble ten minutes later.
