Defender's efforts recognised by fellow professionals

NORWICH City captain Russell Martin has been voted by his fellow players across football into the Professional Footballer's Association 'Team of the Year' for the Sky Bet Championship.

The 29-year-old has been a near ever-present for the Canaries this term, while also finding the net in the league games against Leeds United and Brighton at Carrow Road.

His form was recognised earlier this month in the shape of a new three-year contract, tying the defender to the Club until at least the summer of 2018.

Signing from Peterborough United in January 2010 following a successful loan spell, Martin has gone on to make 227 City appearances in all competitions to date.

The PFA Team of the Year was voted for by the division's players and managers, with the final XI selected based on the number of nominations they received.

2014-15 Sky Bet Championship PFA Team of the Year: Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday); Simon Francis (Bournemouth), Richard Keogh (Derby County), RUSSELL MARTIN (NORWICH CITY), George Friend (Middlesbrough); Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth), Grant Leadbitter (Middlesbrough), Bakary Sako (Wolves), Alex Pritchard (Brentford); Daryl Murphy (Ipswich Town), Troy Deeney (Watford).
