Midfielder reflects on opening day defeat to Eagles

JONNY Howson stressed the need to bounce back after Norwich City were beaten 3-1 by Crystal Palace on the opening day of the Barclays Premier League season at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Having been on the back-foot for much of the early stages, goals from Wilfried Zaha and Damien Delaney either side of half-time gave the visitors control of the contest.

A fizzing Nathan Redmond strike from distance put the hosts back in it with just over 20 minutes to play, only for Yohan Cabaye to confirm the result by netting a third for Palace in injury-time.

Speaking after the game, Howson told Norwich City TV: "We started very well, but probably needed to get a goal while we were on top.

"That's what happens at this level. When you come up against good sides they get one chance and put it away.

"Hopefully we'll learn from today and try to make amends next week. Whatetever happened today, it's gone now so all we can do now is take the positives into next Saturday's game."
