Halajko: We're in good shapeCITY’s Under-21s begin their campaign on Sunday by taking on Sunderland at the Epperton Colliery Welfare Ground (2pm).
The youngsters will once again compete in the top tier of the Barclays Under-21s Premier League after finishing seventh in 2014-15.
Dmitri Halajko, who was appointed as the team’s permanent manager at the end of July after guiding them through pre-season, is looking forward to the competitive action getting underway.
“We’re in good shape, the pre-season games went well and we got a good win against Ipswich in the last one,” he told canaries.co.uk.
“We’re looking to progress and get better, but we’ve trained well and we’re looking forward to it.
“We want to play good football, in terms passing and dominating possession when we can. When we haven’t got the ball, we want to make life hard for the other team by pressing them and trying to win the ball back quickly."
Halakjo is likely to have a strong pool of players to pick from, adding: “Reiss Awuah is the only one who’s injured, he has been for a couple of weeks, but aside from that we’ve got a strong team.
“We’ve got some boys who later on in the season may go out on loan and play league football, but since they’ve been with us they’ve shown a great attitude.”
For any City supporters in the area on Sunday, entry costs £3 for adults and £1 for Under-16s/Over-65s.
