Odjidja and van Wolfswinkel on the scoresheetSENIOR pros Vadis Odjidja Ofoe and Ricky van Wolfswinkel got the goals to earn Norwich City's Under-21s a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.
With Alex Neil watching on, an experienced Canaries team - which also included summer recruits Jake Kean and Andre Wisdom - secured a deserved first win of the season at Colney Training Centre.
Leicester were quickest out of the blocks but City soon stamped their authority on the game, going close through Jamar Loza and van Wolfswinkel.
Harry Panayiotou should have put the Foxes in front on 32 minutes after Afolabi Coker's short backpass, and Odjidja punished the miss with the opener six minutes later, finishing with composure after Josh Murphy's excellent through ball.
The visitors' frontman Jacob Blyth twice threatened aerially just before half-time, but after the break City reasserted themselves with Murphy denied by John Maddison on the angle.
Odjidja dragged another effort wide and Blyth was thwarted by Kean up the other end as the game remained finely poised deep in the second half, but City opened up a two-goal cushion on 74 minutes.
Van Wolfswinkel benefited from a move down the right, rounding Maddison before finding the net and putting the match just about out of Leicester's reach.
The luckless Blyth was denied by Kean once again late on, and City saw the game out to bounce back positively from last weekend's defeat to Sunderland with their maiden victory of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League campaign.
Manager Dmitri Halajko said: "Training has been of a really good standard so I'm pleased they've finished off a good week with a performance and result.
"We had a few first-team players with us today and I think in Under-21s football it makes it better. The young lads want to be playing with and the against the pros because that gives them a marker of where to get to.
"The manager was here and is always very supportive; we're trying to align our Under-21s as close as we can to the first-team."
