ROBBIE BRADY: WE'RE FULLY PREPARED

14 August 2015

Republic of Ireland international speaks ahead of Black Cats test

ROBBIE Brady wants Norwich City to kick-start their 2015-16 Barclays Premier League campaign with victory at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on Saturday (3pm).

Having lost to Crystal Palace last weekend in the opening game of the season, the 23-year-old is determined to build on his competitive City debut by taking three points on Wearside.

Brady believes the Canaries' defeat provided a learning-curve in relation to the task ahead, and told the media at Colney Training Centre on Friday morning: "We've tightened up on things during the week and are raring to go.

"It's been a good week of preparation for us. Everyone knows their jobs going into the game, so we need to make sure we get things right on the pitch now.

"I feel I've got a lot more to offer personally, and hopefully I can show that this weekend. We're only one game into a long season but every match is important.

"We want to come away with the win."

Despite struggling for much of the last two seasons, impressive late rallies have twice seen the Black Cats preserve their top-flight status against the odds.

Such resurgences instead saw first the Canaries, then the Republic of Ireland's former employers Hull City, consigned to relegation to the Sky Bet Championship in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns respectively.

The battling qualities of Dick Advocaat's side have not gone unnoticed, as Brady explained: "They've been around the bottom three for the last couple of years but it will be a tough challenge.

"I'm sure they will be well prepared for it. They have the ability to win games so it won't be easy for us.

"It's very important we pick up points away from home. Hopefully we can gel well together to come out on top."
