'SAVE OF THE SEASON' AWARD FOR YOUNG 'KEEPER

21 August 2015

Beauchamp currently recovering from a long-term injury

YOUNG City goalkeeper Marcus Beauchamp will be presented with the 2014-15 Barclays Under-18s Premier League 'Save of the Season' award before Saturday's first-team game against Stoke City.

Beauchamp won the national prize for a fine reaction stop in a fixture against West Ham United at Colney Training Centre last November.

The second-year scholar, who signed from Bristol Rovers in 2014, will be presented with the award by City's first-team goalkeeper coach Dean Kiely.

"I'm really pleased to have won this award, I was surprised when I heard but it was a good feeling to find out," he told canaries.co.uk.

"The save is a bit of a blur to be honest, but after the game all the coaches were saying it was one of the best they've seen at that level."

Beauchamp is currently on the road to recovery from a serious knee problen, and Academy Manager Gregg Broughton praised his professional approach to the injury.

“His attitude and response to his injury have been excellent and this reward will give extra incentive to return to football as soon as possible," he added.

“We’re delighted for Marcus to receive this award that was voted on by all the of the managers of Category One academies around the country."
