Midfielder on target in Bees victory

WES Hoolahan believes Norwich City's 2-1 pre-season victory over Brentford was the ideal way to end their preparation for the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League.

The midfielder was on target during the Canaries' final game before their much-aniticipated league opener against Crystal Palace next weekend, before Cameron Jerome hit the winner in the second half.

Following the match, Hoolahan said: "It was a good test for us coming into next week and the start of the Premier League.

"Brentford are a solid team, so it was a tough game having played them last year. It's nice to score but it was a great through-ball from Jonny Howson and I'm just glad it's gone in because I actually thought I'd missed.

"Everybody wants to play in the Premier League. We had two good years before relegation so we're looking forward to having another crack at it.

"With our first game being at home we're hopeful we can put on a good show and carry on from last year. The gaffer is always determined to win and so we know have to give 100 per cent every game."

Hoolahan also offered praise to compatriot Robbie Brady, who featured in City colours for the first time after completing a move to the Club from Hull City on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes, and Hoolahan explained: “He’s got a fantastic delivery and is very comfortable on the ball whether he plays left-back or left-midfield.

"I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the squad. In training, you can see the quality the new players have brought.

"The Premier League is tough, but we're confident in giving a good account of ourselves."
