Young Canaries eyeing third straight win

GRAEME Murty wants his Norwich City Under-18s side to end 2015 on a high when they visit Fulham on Saturday (12pm).

City's youngsters go into their final game of the calendar year in good form, following successive victories over Hull and Leicester.

Speaking to, Murty said: "The lads are looking to maintain a nice mini-run we're having at the moment.

"We've won three out of four, and managed to be effective with different types of performance. There have been times where we've been free-flowing and times where we've had to battle.

"It would be nice to have a complete performance. Bringing all those elements together is something we're striving for because we've started to pose a threat in attack.

"That's good for the players, as it shows a correlation between what we do in training and results on the pitch. In turn, that makes our jobs as coaches that little bit easier.

"Once again, our sports science department have done a great job. We should have a full complement to select from, and our longer-term absentees are also progressing nicely."

The Canaries have gone a fortnight since their last competitive outing, which has provided an opportunity for both a rest and some extra-curricular activity.

"The boys had a weekend off which was good for them as they needed a break," explained the 41-year-old coach.

"This week they've also had to sing for their Christmas money in front of the pros, which is always nerve-wracking. They fronted up well; it's one of those rites of passages for them.

"You have to be able to handle things like that if you want to make it in the game. Some of them did better than others but they all came out of it positively.

"The first team players now know that little bit more about them. It's given them some common ground away from football which is good for their relationship building."
