Jerry Gill's youngsters register fourth straight winNORWICH City Under-18s continued their fine form with a 3-1 victory at Arsenal on Saturday, extending their winning run to four games.
The Canaries took a deserved lead on 25 minutes when Todd Cantwell converted an undisputed penalty, and within four minutes doubled their advantage through George Couzens following good work by Harley Black.
Arsenal fielded a strong side, which included debutant Krystian Bielik following his high-profile move to London during the January transfer window, and steadily grew into the contest.
However, they were restricted well by an organised City outfit until a more open second half saw Josh Da Silva pull a goal back for the hosts.
As has been the case in recent weeks, Jerry Gill's side responded to the set-back in impressive fashion, and secured all three points with two minutes to play when Dexter Peter headed home a free-kick to end the Gunners' challenge.
A fourth successive Barclays Under-18s Premier League win moves City to within two points of their opponents, and after the game Gill told canaries.co.uk: "It was really pleasing.
"We started the game really well, and had a lot of controlled possession in the first half which allowed us to get on the front foot and create chances. They were forced to go very direct from their goalkeeper because of our good pressing.
"We played some really good stuff out from the back. It wasn't the complete performance, but you're not going to get 90 minutes every time.
"They showed good game management to win, and it keeps the momentum going for us."
City's final match of the regular campaign sees them visit West Bromwich Albion on Saturday (12pm), ahead of entering the play-off system.
