U18s PREVIEW: SOUTHAMPTON

12 February 2015

Canaries youngsters prepare to host Saints

However, their last appearance saw a young Canaries team produce an excellent display to seal a deserved 2-1 home victory over Leicester City at the end of January.

Jerry Gill's side have been out of competitive action for the past fortnight, after last weekend's Barclays Premier League Under-18s game at West Bromwich Albion was postponed.

NORWICH City Under-18s face Southampton at Colney Training Centre on Saturday (11am) looking to continue an impressive run of performances.

That has seen a number of young players take to the field in recent games, including those who are eligible at U15s level, with many U18s squad members stepping up to the U21s team.

As the current league campaign draws to a close, City have used the last few weeks to begin laying the foundations for their 2014-2015 season.

The reverse meeting between the sides in October ended 1-1 at Staplewood, with Harley Black's late free-kick rescuing a point for the Canaries.

Southampton had taken the lead early in the second half through Marcus Barnes, but City deservedly levelled with four minutes remaining when Black stepped up to curl home in style.
