Free entry for all supporters at Carrow Road

SEBASTIEN Bassong is one of four senior first team players set to play for Norwich City’s Under-21s against Borussia Monchengladbach at Carrow Road on Tuesday (7pm).

The defender joins Declan Rudd, Ignasi Miquel and Javier Garrido in the squad for the Barclays Under-21s International Cup match, for which entry is FREE for all supporters.

Bassong recently returned from a loan spell at Watford and has yet to feature for the first team this season.

Rudd played in the Development Squad’s 0-0 stalemate with Sunderland last week, while Miquel has had three Under-21s outings already this campaign. Garrido is to get valuable minutes as he steps up his recovery from a groin injury.

Josh Murphy and Conor McGrandles will also be involved, and Carlton Morris has returned temporarily from his loan spell at York City to take his place in the squad.

Paul Wilkinson’s City require victories over Borussia Monchengladbach and FC Porto in Group A to be certain of their place in the quarter finals of the inaugural competition.

A draw on Tuesday will keep them in contention until at least February 11, when the two overseas teams in the group go head-to-head. City were beaten by group leaders Chelsea last month.

Carrow Road will host European football for the first time since 1993, and supporters can take advantage of our unique free ticket offer that has helped produce record Under-21s crowds so far in 2014-15.

9,862 witnessed City’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United earlier in January, and an incredible 10,405 came to see the Canaries beat Tottenham Hotspur in October, a game that also attracted a national and international audience live on BT Sport.

Academy Manager Gregg Broughton said: “The support our Under-21s have received this season has been astounding. Playing in front of Norwich City’s tremendous supporters truly helps our players prepare for professional football, and we’re seeing that ring true with a number of Academy graduates thriving out on loan in the tough environment of the Football League.”

Fans will have the option of making a donation to the Club’s Academy - £2,300 was raised ahead of the Manchester United game thanks to the huge generosity of the Yellow Army. That is money that will go directly into helping develop the next generation of City stars.
