City touchdown in Grassau

NORWICH City have checked in at their base in Grassau for a week-long pre-season training camp.

The travelling party flew into Austrian city Salzburg on Saturday afternoon before crossing the nearby border to Germany.

Alex Neil's squad will continue their Premier League preparations on European turf ahead of returning to the UK on Saturday, July 25.

Two friendlies are scheduled: the first against Maccabi Haifa in Kufstein on Monday (6.30pm), the second versus FC Augsburg in Prien am Chiemsee on Saturday.

Daily training sessions will take place at the Club's resort in Grassau, and Neil believes it will be a testing week for his players.

"They've got games and they will have hard training sessions as well. There will be a couple of them a day, so everything will be solely focused around football," he said.

"We want to acquit ourselves really well and get some good work in. Our quality will improve as pre-season progresses; that sharpness comes with playing good quality opposition.

"The opposition over here will give us a different type of football. It's about how we adjust and acquit ourselves to these type of games.

"We're not in the middle of a major city, we are out of the way. That will help us get focused on getting ready for the season."

City have notched three wins out of three so far in pre-season, with Friday's 3-1 victory over Cambridge United coming across 120 minutes in a unique, extended format designed to maximise playing time for all members of Neil's sizeable squad.

The Canaries' opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace is three weeks away, with Carrow Road warm-up games against West Ham United and Brentford in the diary before then.
