Young stopper links up with Brewers until January

REMI Matthews has signed for League One side Burton Albion on loan until January 2.

Goalkeeper Matthews, 21, rejoins the Brewers after spending a month at the Pirelli Stadium midway through last season.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s team were crowned League Two champions in May and are set to compete in the third tier of English football for the first time.

Matthews, who was born in Gorleston, has been with City’s Academy since the age of 10 and signed a two-year professional deal in 2014.

He will be targeting a starting spot for Burton’s opening fixture against Scunthorpe United on August 8, with regular number one Jon McLaughlin set to serve a one-match suspension.
