Midfielder enjoying first pre-season with Canaries

TONY Andreu believes his and Norwich City's preparations for the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League are on track ahead of facing Cambridge United on Friday (7:30pm).

The attacking midfielder has found the net four times in the two friendly matches played so far, after backing up his goal against Gorleston with a hat-trick in the win over Hitchin Town on Tuesday evening.

Having already experienced a pre-season under City boss Alex Neil when the pair were at Hamilton Academical, Andreu told "It’s a bit different to last year as Norwich is a bigger club.

"We played football the first week we were back in, which is enjoyable as a player because you don’t want to be just running. We worked hard for the first two weeks and now we're getting game time so it's pretty good.

"Without meaning to be disrespectful to the teams we've already played, it's going to start getting harder for us now. It feels like Cambridge is going to be more of a test, so we'll make sure we're prepared for it."

The day after visiting Richard Money's side, City's squad will fly out for a European training camp where they face fixtures against Maccaibi Haifa and FC Augsburg.

Andreu considers such preparation to be key, and added: "It’s going to be a good week for the group to be together and test themselves against strong teams.

"I've settled in really well since I joined, and everyone has helped me to feel at home. It's been an enjoyable time here so far, and I hope it can be even better from now.

"Playing is the aim for everyone, and it's definitely the same for me. I'm going to keep working hard and pushing myself to make sure I have a chance of doing that."
