Canaries nominated for Football League Community Club of the YearNORWICH City players will show their support for the Club’s Community Week at the home fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (3pm).
They will wear special Community Sports Foundation (CSF) branded warm-up tops, and donate their match-worn shirts to the charity following the game.
The initiative forms part of the Club's overall Community Week, which celebrates Norwich City's contribution to the community through CSF.
Community Week gives the chance to recognise the various programmes, people and participants that engage with the Club's foundation on a weekly basis, as well as showing appreciation to the funders and fundraisers who make it possible, including main Club sponsor Aviva.
Prior to the game, volunteers will be collecting for CSF’s Sporting Light Appeal, which raises funds to help disabled and disadvantaged people in Norfolk.
A number of activities will be taking place pitchside on the day, including:
• Will Clarke, a young person who has directly benefited from the work of the Foundation, being introduced as the game's Community Hero. Will, who has cerebral palsy, is an enthusiastic and regular participant in CSF’s disability sport programmes and will have the honour of bringing out the matchball before kick-off.
• Players from the Norwich City Down’s Syndrome football team will be introduced to the crowd at half-time, along with their counterparts from Lincoln City, on what is also World Down’s Syndrome Day. Both teams will be involved in a tournament prior to the game, which has been made possible thanks to the generous support of PUPs; a fan group from the popular Pink ‘Un message board who have chosen to support CSF as their charity of the year and who will present a cheque for £881 to the Foundation at half-time.
Community Week coincides with the news that Norwich City have been shortlisted for the Football League Community Club of the Year Award.
