Young winger in short-term Latics move

WIGAN Athletic have signed Canaries winger Josh Murphy on a month's loan.

Murphy has 16 appearances to his name for City this season but hasn’t featured since coming on as a second half substitute in the 0-0 draw with Birmingham City at the end of January.

The 20-year-old, who was a key player in the Club’s FA Youth Cup winning team in 2013, has played 29 times in total for the senior side since scoring a spectacular goal on his professional debut at Watford last season.

He has netted three times in 2014-15, including a brace in the Capital One Cup win over Crawley Town in August.

Wigan, managed by former City captain Malky Mackay, are four points from safety in the Sky Bet Championship table but have won three of their last four matches, including a 1-0 victory at Carrow Road earlier this month.

Murphy is eligible for their home game against Watford on Tuesday evening.

His move comes just two days after twin brother Jacob completed a loan switch to League One outfit Colchester United.
