U18s PREVIEW: BOLTON

20 March 2015

City youngsters aiming to continue recent form

NORWICH City Under-18s host Bolton Wanderers at Colney Training Centre on Saturday (11am) looking to build on an excellent run of five wins from their past six matches.

The Canaries began their Barclays Under-18s Premier League play-off campaign in fine fashion last weekend, securing an impressive 2-1 victory at Arsenal.

That win came off the back of a number of recent successes, which saw City end their regular season strongly by taking maximum points off the likes of West Ham United and Southampton.

In contrast, Bolton have struggled for form, and started their play-off bid with a 2-0 home defeat to Stoke City last time out.

Despite that, Under-18s coach Jerry Gill is wary of the threat posed by the Trotters, and told canaries.co.uk: "They've not had a great season, but the Northern teams are a different challenge.

"They tend to be a lot tougher physically, whereas we've got technically gifted players. I've challenged our boys to win seven out of seven, purely on the basis that we've been playing so well.

"We've got the performances, so now we're trying to get the wins. The learning has been brilliant over the last ten to 12 weeks; knowing when to press and how, while also creating chances.

"It's all part of their development, so we're looking forward it."
