Canaries defender relishing Carrow Road atmosphereSTEVEN Whittaker has called on Norwich City's fans to be the twelfth man when his side face Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final second leg on Saturday (12:15pm).
The two sides go into the contest at Carrow Road level, following last weekend's 1-1 draw at Portman Road.
However, the Scotland international believes home advantage could prove a decisive factor, and told the media at Colney Training Centre on Friday: "We've had a good week of training and we're ready to go again.
"It was important we stayed in the tie in the first leg, and although a draw wasn't what we went for it still puts us in a good position. We need to win our home game now, and we're capable of doing that.
"We want to progress to Wembley with a good result, and will have a home crowd who will be right behind us. We can't get carried away with the situation, so need to treat it as we would any other game.
"The boys know the job they've got to do, and we know we're capable on the day. We've just got to go out there and prove it."
Whittaker also understands how crucial remaining composed is amid what is set to be an intense atmosphere, commenting: "There's a lot at stake because we all want to get to the Premier League.
"It's important to stay calm and not get carried away with the situation. Our main focus is on the match.
"I've played in some big games in Scotland, but this is my first season in the Championship and my first time in the play-offs. We're all really looking forward to the challenge."
