City defender looking to secure first team placeRYAN Bennett is determined to become a regular in Alex Neil's Norwich City side as they prepare to face Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League at Carrow Road on Saturday (3pm).
Having been limited to to a pair of Capital One Cup appearances in the opening two months of the campaign, the 25-year-old has started each of the Canaries' last three outings in all competitions.
Speaking to the media at Colney Training Centre on Friday morning about his recent first team involvement, Bennett said: "I didn't expect to come in this year and play from the start.
"Russell Martin and Sebastien Bassong did really well season while I was injured. They earned the right to play, and we began strongly this year.
"You have to keep training hard to hopefully be given a chance. When the team is doing well everyone is happy, as that's all that matters.
"If anyone gets the chance to play then they'll be ready. It's nice to be back and now I want to do as well as possible."
A testing run has seen City consigned to four consecutive league defeats, with the latest coming in the form of a cruel loss at Manchester City last weekend.
Despite such form, the defender remains confident, and added: "Every team is going to have tough spells.
"We've going to try to get the points against Swansea so we can forget about the past. We've been playing well but it's results that we need.
"If we can keep playing how we have been, but cut out the little errors, we'll be fine. We have a plan for Swansea which we're looking to carry out."
