Seize the opportunity, says Academy coach
City's youngsters travel to Wales in the Barclays Under-18s Premier League this weekend, ahead of Wednesday night's cup tie away to Hull.
With spots in his XI at North Ferriby remaining up for grabs, Murty told canaries.co.uk: "The players are raring to go and eager to stake a claim for next week.
"They know they're playing for their shirts so realise they need to perform. The shirts are there to be won, which is the mind-set going into Saturday.
Murty is making full use of contacts from his playing days ahead of facing the Swans, which represents the lengthiest away trip of the league season.
"It's a long journey, so we're going to break it up by travelling in the morning and train at Reading's facilities," the 41-year-old explained.
"They need an opportunity to loosen their legs because we don't want any excuses after a good win last weekend. It's about them taking what they do in this environment into a different one at Reading.
"We're trying to polish a few things from the West Ham game, which is what we've covered in the build-up. The group are receptive to both criticism and praise, which they're continuing to work on.
"In those terms we're seeing more success than at the start of the year, which is pleasing."
