Canaries forward included on 37-man shortlist

NORWICH City striker Dieumerci Mbokani has been shortlisted for the 2015 CAF African Player of the Year award.

The 29-year-old joined the Canaries on loan from Dynamo Kiev at the end of August, and registered his first goal for the Club in the recent 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.

During the 2015 African Cup of Nations, Mbokani was the competition's joint top-scorer with three goals as DR Congo reached the semi-finals before being beaten by Ivory Coast.

Representing the nation in the current international break, Mbokani scored the opening goal in their 2-0 friendly win over Nigeria at the end of last week.

A number of other Barclays Premier League players have also been shortlisted, including Manchester City's Yaya Toure - who won the award for a record fourth consecutive time in 2014.

The 37-man list will be shortened to ten next month, before being further reduced in the build-up to the award ceremony in January.
