CHILD REFUGEE DAY OF ACTION: OCTOBER 3

28 September 2015

Details of City's support for the Child Refugee Crisis Appeal

A REMINDER to all of our fans that Norwich City will be holding a day of action when the Canaries take on Leicester City on Saturday, October 3 to raise funds for the Child Refugee Crisis Appeal.

More than 60 volunteers have come forward to help with the collection on the day, mostly from the Club’s Community Sports Foundation and Norwich City Fans Social Club.

It’s the biggest collection of its kind in the Club’s recent history. If you are coming to the game and would like to donate, please bring along some spare change to give to one of our official collectors.

If you can't make the game and would still like to contribute, you can find out about the appeal and donate online HERE. Alternatively, text the word 'CANARIES' to 70008 to instantly donate £3 to the cause (UK only).

The international charity Save The Children is looking to raise £1million through the appeal, to provide desperately needed aid to children fleeing war-zones in Syria and other countries to seek shelter and safety in Europe.

It’s the biggest refugee crisis in this continent since the Second World War – and Save The Children’s appeal will directly help extremely vulnerable youngsters who are among the 350,000 people this year alone who have risked their lives crossing the Mediterranean Sea to escape death, torture and deprivation in their home countries.

In Italy alone, out of the many countries affected, more than 7,600 unaccompanied children have arrived since January – with no parents or families to help them.

To raise funds for the appeal, Norwich City Football Club will donate £1 from every ticket purchased for the Leicester City match, with another capacity crowd expected.

Main club sponsor Aviva has vowed to match fans' donations pound-for-pound up to £10,000. Meanwhile, any of City’s other corporate partners who would like to make a donation large or small can ring our Head of Partnerships Stephen Hobin on 01603 218 745.

City will make a further £1 donation from every sale of selected items of Canaries Official merchandise bought between now and close of play on the day of the Leicester match. These items include Norwich City home, away and third replica shirts, Norwich City scarves and Norwich City mugs.

So far a total of 2,003 of these items have been purchased during the qualifying period – so why not show your Canary colours and support a really worthy cause at the same time?

More details about the Child Refugee Crisis Appeal and how Save The Children will use the money raised can be found on their website, where you can also make a donation if you are unable to attend the Leicester game.
