City midfielder eyeing reaction to Southampton defeat

JONNY Howson is determined to start making Carrow Road into a Barclays Premier League fortress when Norwich City host Bournemouth on Saturday (3pm).

City go into the game with a degree of familiarity, after coming up against their opponents in the Sky Bet Championship last term - including in Alex Neil's first match in charge in January.

Speaking to ahead of the contest, Howson said: "We want to take the game to the majority of teams who come to our place.

"Bournemouth have obviously had a sight of how we did last season, but we're confident on our home patch. We need to make it a difficult ground to come to for other teams.

"Regardless of who we're playing, we want to make a good impression at Carrow Road. The fans can make a massive difference for us, so hopefully we're able to capitalise on that."

Having lost 3-0 at Southampton in their last outing, Neil's side have had the duration of the international break to digest the result, with many among the squad away with their respective countries.

Howson is relishing the opportunity to put things right against the Cherries, and added: "We're looking for a reaction, because our focus is always on the next match, regardless of the previous result.

"Having said that, after a defeat you certainly want to put it right as quickly as possible. Our previous games are in the past now though, and we can't affect them.

"We'll concentrate on what we can control, which is the Bournemouth match. We know it's going to be a difficult test, but the disappointment of Southampton will drive us forward."
