Winger marks debut with City's third goal

MATT Jarvis had a debut to remember as he helped inspire Norwich City to a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at Carrow Road.

Jarvis joined the Canaries on a season-long loan from West Ham and made an immediate impact, netting the third goal as City jumped up to eighth in the table.

The winger commented: “It’s a fantastic start. It was a massive game at home, so it’s good to get the three points and a goal as well, especially with it being on my debut.

“You need to win your home games so I think that was a massive plus for us today, especially against a team that was promoted with us last season.”

The 29-year-old has been impressed with his new squad members and took time to praise man of the match Wes Hoolahan, who contributed an assist and a goal.

“Wes was fantastic today – he picks up those positions that can hurt you and he was able to do that today, especially in the second half. He drove forwards to create opportunities and he got his goal.”

The passion in Jarvis’ goal celebration was clear, and he remarked: “It was a little bit of frustration coming out, but I was absolutely delighted to score.

“I had a lot of time to think about what to do, but you just have to go with what you think and it was the right decision.

“This Norwich team have loads of potential. I’ve only been here a week and a half but I can already see it’s a fantastic squad, with a great team who can put in performances like we did today.”
