U21s PREVIEW: EVERTON

28 September 2015

City youngsters prepare to visit Merseyside

NORWICH City's Development Squad return to Barclays Under-21s Premier League action on Tuesday evening when they face Everton at Haig Avenue in Southport (7pm).

The Canaries have gone the best part of a month without a competitive match; their last outing of such kind being the Premier League International Cup clash against Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven at the start of September.

However, City's youngsters have retained match sharpness by playing a number of friendly fixtures in the interim and Under-21s coach Dmitri Halajko told canaries.co.uk: "It's been a good two weeks for us.

"We've played a couple of senior reserve sides, who have put out several over-age players with league experience. They've dealt with that really well, and also trained well.

"All of the players are looking forward to it. Everyone has looked very hungry and very sharp in preparation, so they're eager to get out there and perform now."

The Toffees are yet to win in the league so far this campaign, sitting just below the Canaries in the standings having played two matches more.

Despite that, Halajko believes his side are set for a stern test, as he added: "Everton are always strong so it will be a tough game.

"There are no easy matches in this Under-21s league, and they had a few senior players in their last squad. We won't know who is involved for them until an hour before kick-off but we've got a strong group.

"The more top-class players there are on the pitch the better it is for everyone. We want it to be the most elite environment possible, so whatever side they put out will suit us."
