Late drama as City defender nets injury-time winner

MARTIN Olsson spoke of his delight after providing the telling moment in Norwich City's crucial 3-2 Barclays Premier League victory over Newcastle United at Carrow Road on Saturday.

The left-back struck superbly in injury-time to seal an invaluable three points, after Newcastle's Alexsandar Mitrovic had twice cancelled out City's advantage given to them by Timm Klose and Dieumerci Mbokani.

Olsson wants his side to keep building on the momentum generated in recent weeks, and told Norwich City TV: "It's a really good win for us.

"We were thinking about this game ahead of the international break. It was good to get out on the pitch and get the three points.

"The only thing we had in our mind was winning. We didn’t want to draw so we went for it at the end and got the luck.

"We’ll take it one game as a time but we feel stronger as a team. Over our last few performances we’ve started to get things together."

The Sweden international's match-winning strike sent Carrow Road into raptures, with Olsson quick to credit the support offered to the team throughout the match.

"I'm just happy it went in because it's good for the team and for the fans who supported us," he explained.

"We need a good atmosphere at Carrow Road, which we definitely had. I hardly ever score, so it was a great feeling.

"I didn’t know how to celebrate so I just ran around like a headless chicken! We have to keep playing well in order to keep this going."
