Canaries defeated at Carrow RoadNORWICH City's Under-21s fell to a 1-2 defeat in their last outing at Carrow Road this season, with their upcoming three fixtures taking place on the road to end the campaign.
Everton had the first sight of goal when Reece Hall-Johnson fouled Harry Charsley on the edge of the area, but Antony Evans failed to trouble Oxborough and could only direct his effort off target.
The deadlock would be broken twenty-five minutes in; Kieran Dowell beat Aston Oxborough with a fierce strike from distance that came from nothing.
After that, however, City would have the better chances in the lead-up to half time, with both Michee Efete and Nathan Corkery going close.
First, Efete's run went unchallenged until deep into the Everton half but his shot looped narrowly over the crossbar and onto the top of the net.
Jamal Lewis' low cross bounced unkindly off Corkery soon after and that deflection took the ball out of play for an Everton goal kick.
A succession of set pieces before the break allowed chances at the Toffees' goal but the visitors largely dealt with any threat, whilst Ray Grant's effort was easily gathered by Mateusz Hewelt.
However, it would be the visitors that struck next as they doubled their lead on their stroke of half time. Charsley's shot rebounded off the post and fell kindly to Evans who tapped in to an empty net and past a sprawling Oxborough.
Glenn Middleton attempted to drag Dmitri Halajko's side back into the game after the break, but he flashed his shot into the side netting soon after the restart.
City's hopes of another comeback were reignitated when the ball fell for Lewis to rifle the ball low past Hewelt and into the Everton net with five minutes remaining.
In spite of that, defensive resilience from the visitors ensured there would be no drama as they secured the three points.
