Ex-Canary returns in scouting role

NORWICH City can confirm former Canary Tony Spearing will be returning to the Club as Head of Football Recruitment.

He will join an enhanced recruitment department working with Head of Scouting Lee Darnbrough and the rest of the scouting team.

Spearing was an FA Youth Cup winner with the Canaries back in 1983 going on to make 82 appearances in a four year spell at Carrow Road before leaving for Leicester in 1988. He’s also a familiar face to the local non-league football scene in East Anglia having played and managed sides including King's Lynn.

He leaves Reading where he was Head of Scouting and Recruitment as well as previously holding scouting roles at both Blackburn and West Brom, where he was Head of European Recruiting during an eight-year spell.

Spearing said: "I'm delighted to be back at the club that gave me my football education and I’m really looking forward to working with the rest of the backroom team and contributing to Norwich City's future success."
