City swoop for former England Under-21 internationalNORWICH City are delighted to announce the signing of Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard on a four-year-deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old moves to Carrow Road having progressed through the Academy system at Spurs, where he made two Barclays Premier League appearances.
After spells on loan to Peterborough United and Swindon Town in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons respectively, Pritchard excelled during a similar stint at Brentford during the 2014-15 campaign.
Featuring 47 times for the Bees, Pritchard scored 12 Sky Bet Championship goals to help guide his side to the play-offs, earning himself a place in the division’s Team of the Year in the process.
Such form also saw him named as Brentford’s Players’ Player of the Year, with the creative midfielder going on to spend the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
Having completed a permanent switch to City, Pritchard told canaries.uk: "I'm ready to come here, fight for my place and hopefully play well.
"I feel I need to go out and prove myself again in football. I'm 23 now so it's about time I had my own path really.
"I've had a full pre-season and with our first game at the weekend I'm looking forward to hopefully bedding myself in quickly."
Reflecting on adding the former England Under-21 international to his squad, manager Alex Neil said: "Alex is an exciting player who is capable of both scoring and creating goals.
"He is proven at this level having excelled at Brentford two seasons ago, and adds to our attacking options. I’m really looking forward to working with him on a day-to-day basis."
