The latest squad news ahead of Saturday

ALEX Neil reported positive news on the injuries to Robbie Brady and Russell Martin - but admitted that they are unlikely to make the squad for this weekend's curtain-raiser at Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking to Norwich City TV on the eve of the 2016-17 campaign, the Canaries' boss gave an update on his playing squad for the visit to Ewood Park.

"Russell is fine and he's back training now. Unfortunately I think this game might come too quickly for him, but it is good to see him back," said Neil.

"I'm hoping for next week that both should be available."

A late decision will be made on Graham Dorrans after the midfielder, who signed a new contract with the Club earlier in the summer, limped off in the latter stages of last weekend's 3-2 friendly loss to Hannover 96.

City's only certain absentee is Matt Jarvis after he underwent knee surgery earlier in the summer, while a selection of players, including recent recruit Alex Pritchard, could make their competitive debuts in yellow and green.
