Midfield maestro signs until at least 2018NORWICH City midfielder Wes Hoolahan has signed a new contract with the Canaries, keeping him at Carrow Road until at least 2018.
The summer of 2018 will mark 10 years since the popular Ireland international signed for City from Blackpool, after which he has gone on to feature 285 times in all competitions, scoring 45 times.
A renewed commitment to the Canaries from their longest-serving player follows a standout summer with both club and country.
Hoolahan starred for the Republic of Ireland at EURO 2016, including a memorable strike to cap off a man-of-the-match performance against Sweden in the group stages.
He carried his form into pre-season with City, scoring a sweetly struck long-range effort against Coventry City before gaining plaudits for two wonderfully taken goals against Hannover 96 at Carrow Road.
Speaking after the Hannover 96 game, manager Alex Neil underlined Hoolahan’s importance to City’s promotion bid during the season to come.
“Wes has always been a special player for us,” he said.
“More often than not, he’s the one I turn to when I need someone to deliver something for me, and he never really lets me down.
“He’s a quality player. We all know his qualities. He’ll be key for us this year.”
