Pair link up with Canaries' Academy
NORWICH City can confirm the addition of two players to their Under-18s squad for next season, having completed deals for youngsters Jon McCracken and Zach Birse.
Goalkeeper McCracken moves from Hamilton Academical, while defender Birse joins having previously been at Brentford.
Under-18s manager Graeme Murty told canaries.co.uk: "Zach hasn’t trained with us yet as he has an injury but he’s integrated really well with the squad.
"We’re being really patient and can’t wait to get him onto the grass playing football. Meanwhile, Jon boasts our goalkeeping ranks and gives us more options in that position."
On McCracken specifically, Academy Lead Goalkeeping Coach, Ed Wooten, added: “Jon has good pedigree and we’re hoping he can become a long-term prospect for the club.
"It’s a competitive environment for him to work in, but that’s healthy for development."
Scotland Under-17 international McCracken, who is a first-year scholar, said: "I’m looking forward to it and I’ve really liked what I’ve seen so far.
"At Hamilton last season I was around Michael McGovern quite often. He’s a good person to look up to and it’s nice to have some familiar faces around me here."
Second-year scholar Birse added: "It’s good to move up a Category from Brentford to Norwich, and it’s a big opportunity for me.
"Coming here with an injury is hard but I’m getting to know the boys now. I’m hoping to get back playing as soon as I can."
