Canaries round off 2016 at Brentford

ALEX Neil says his side must take confidence from their 5-0 win against Brentford earlier this month when the two teams meet at Griffin Park on New Year's Eve (5:30pm).

A testing run of form over recent weeks for the Canaries was punctuated by the comprehensive victory over the Bees, one of only two successes in the past ten league games.

Speaking to Norwich City TV on Friday afternoon, Neil said: "The first game [against Brentford] shows what our capabilities are.

"When you play two games in such close proximity, in terms of timing, the second is always going to be more difficult. That's certainly the case going to their place.

"They will be determined to put things right from the game against us. We need to do better and it's a game we need to win.

"I want any confidence issues we have eradicated by winning games."

With the Bees having mixed up their approach to matches of late, Neil feels suitably prepared for whichever tactical Dean Smith's team favour in the final Football League fixture of 2016.

"They changed their formation before we played them, then changed it back for our game," he explained.

"After that they reverted back to what they had used beforehand. We'll be prepped for both styles and systems.

"If we perform well, we've got a great chance of winning the game."
