ALEX NEIL'S HUDDERSFIELD PREVIEW

15 December 2016

Another good performance needed, says the manager

ALEX Neil realises the importance of following Tuesday's victory over Aston Villa with another positive result when Huddersfield Town visit on Friday (7.45pm).

Nelson Oliveira's second half strike - his third in as many matches - secured a crucial three points against Villa at Carrow Road in midweek.

David Wagner's Terriers are the next obstacle in his his team's path, and Neil wants the Canaries to build some momentum as they look to move back into the top six.

He told Norwich City TV: "To be honest, we needed a good performance and a good result, and we got that.

"The biggest thing I took from the game is that you talk about the effort and endeavour that's required, which the fans demand and I demand - we got that in spades.

"That was really pleasing, but we need to replicate it again. We've been here before after beating Brentford, so we really need to go and back Villa up with another good performance."

Wagner's visitors flew out of the blocks in the Sky Bet Championship this season, not losing any of their first six matches and securing impressive away wins at Newcastle United and Leeds United.

Assessing the task on Friday, Neil added: "They've got a young, fresh, hungry bunch who have got a manager that's come in and brought in a new style of play.

"They've embraced that; sometimes you can pick up a bit of momentum and that carries you through. They're a decent side, it will be a difficult game.

"I've seen them approach games in two different ways this year: they've been really expansive in certain games, and then I've seen them be a bit more defensive to hit you on the counter.

"As always, with the squad we've got, if we can apply ourselves and play as well as we can, we're capable of beating anyone."
