LOAN ROUND-UP: TOFFOLO'S SCUNTHORPE STAY TOP

28 December 2016

Four City players in action

HARRY Toffolo came through his second game since returning from injury as Scunthorpe United consolidated their position at the summit of Sky Bet League One on Boxing Day.

The full-back completed the game as the Iron played out a 0-0 draw away to Bradford City.

Toffolo was absent for two months with a knee injury but has now re-established himself in Graham Alexander's starting eleven.

Elsewhere in the division Karl Robinson led Charlton Athletic to a 1-0 victory at his former club MK Dons but Declan Rudd remains absent for the Addicks with a hip problem.

Ebou Adams has made his first two starts for Vanarama National League side Braintree Town after linking up with them on a short-term basis earlier this month, though he will have mixed feelings after their Boxing Day result.

The 20-year-old midfielder was sent off in the second half against Dagenham & Redbridge for a poorly-timed tackle - but the Essex club held on for a 3-2 win.

Six days earlier, Adams had helped them to a 1-0 away victory over Boreham Wood.

North of the border, James Maddison made a positive impact off the substitutes' bench in Aberdeen's 2-1 win over Hamilton Academical on Tuesday.

Replacing Andrew Considine on the hour mark, Maddison went on to have the shot from which Adam Rooney scored the winning goal, following in Gary Woods' parry.

Woods was between the sticks for the Accies with Remi Matthews still recovering from shoulder surgery.

Meanwhile, in the Scottish Championship Dundee United elevated themselves back into top spot with a 2-1 victory over St Mirren, with Tony Andreu playing 90 minutes.
