City boss confident after 'a good week'

ALEX Neil is urging his team to give the fans something to shout about when they take on West Ham United on Saturday (3pm).

City will look to end a run of five Premier League defeats in a row against a Hammers side who have lost their last two top flight matches on the road.

Neil believes it's imperative that the Canaries take the initiative and force an intimidating atmosphere at Carrow Road.

"We've got to make it that way. As a team, we've got to try and get the supporters off their seats by putting in a good performance," he told Norwich City TV.

"We'll try our very best and the fans have then got to try and do their bit. It's all going to determine how we go about it.

"We need to rally around each other and make sure everybody's pushing the one way, and if we do that there's no reason why we can't get the result."

City dropped into the bottom three after last weekend's 2-0 reverse at Villa, but Neil believes one positive result can alter the perspective on their season.

"Once you get a victory under your belt, the picture changes again," he explained. "I think that's what happens when you're down at the bottom end of the table, particularly when things are so tight.

"I'm confident that this week will be a good week for us. We need to go to try and pick up these three points."

Neil is encouraging his side to return to their early season form, which included an impressive performance in a 2-2 draw away to West Ham in September.

He added: "It was a lot easier then when you've come off the back of a promotion and everybody's high in confidence.

"It's obviously a bit different to the situation we're in at the moment, however we want to get back to that stage.

"We want to make sure that we're believing in what we're trying to do and basically go out and do it."
