ON THIS DAY: FEBRUARY 24

24 February 2016

Promotion boosts, landmark goals and double birthdays!

NORWICH City enjoyed a significant moment in their 2014-15 Sky Bet Championship season on February 24 last year, earning a vital 2-1 win away at Blackburn Rovers.

The home side had gone in front midway through the first half through Alex Baptiste, before substitute Cameron Jerome levelled for the Canaries with 65 minutes gone.

Alex Neil's men then secured their fifth victory on the spin late on, with Bradley Johnson lashing home emphatically to earn his side a first triumph at Ewood Park since 1993.

February 24 is also a notable day for former City striker Chris Martin, who struck his first league goal for the Club during a 1-1 draw with Coventry City at Carrow Road in 2007.

The Academy graduate went on to score 34 times in 117 appearances for Norwich, playing a significant role in successive promotions from League One to the Premier League before eventually joining Derby County in 2013.

In the seven matches City have contested on February 24 since 1979 onwards, they have lost just once - with their sole reverse in that time-frame coming at Millwall in 1996.

The date also marks the birthdays of twin brothers Jacob Murphy and Josh Murphy, each of whom came through City's Academy and signed fresh two-year deals last summer.
