U18s PREVIEW: TOTTENHAM

12 February 2016

City youngsters aiming for fourth straight win

GRAEME Murty wants his Norwich City Under-18s to continue building on their recent success when they visit Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday (12pm).

The youngsters' last outing saw them progress to the FA Youth Cup quarter-final with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Middlesbrough, extending their winning run to three games in the process.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk ahead of the Barclays Under-18s Premier League game, Murty said: "Whenever we remind the players about their application we always have a really good response.

"They know what they're capable of when they show grit and determination. That's what I'm looking for from them again this weekend.

"The mindset that nothing is ever beyond them is something we want to continue. It's about supporting each other all the time and remaining positive, which they did really well in the FA Youth Cup.

"These are the kind of things which are going to help them in their professional careers, if they're lucky enough to have one."

Earlier this week a number of Murty's squad were involved as the Development Squad travelled to Old Trafford, where they faced a Manchester United side littered with senior internationals.

Their inclusion will reap benefits in the long run according to the 41-year-old coach, who added: "The Under-18s and Under-21s have all been talking about what the next level looks like.

"That's where I think we're ahead of the curve somewhat in our planning for younger players. We make sure they get that kind of exposure, which is a fantastic experience for them going forward.

"Although the players are young, giving them that insight now can set them on a really good path. It's then important they don't cruise when they come back to the Under-18s level.

"It's up to them to take the level of the group higher, and to push people on."
