Midfielder commits until 2018 with fresh deal

NORWICH City are delighted to announce that midfielder Alex Tettey has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until at least the summer of 2018.

A popular figure with fans since joining from Rennes in 2012, the Norway international has so far amassed 113 appearances for City in all competitions, scoring six times.

Speaking exclusively to Norwich City TV, the 30-year-old said: "I'm really pleased and feel very privileged to be continuing my relationship with the Club.

"Norwich have put trust and faith in me since I've been here, which is really good. It's a massive season for us and hopefully we can go on to do well.

"I'm going to give everything I can to help us get back to the Premier League. It's a huge task but I'm very happy to be part of it."

Tettey formed a central part of the side which secured promotion from the Sky Bet Championship two seasons ago, making 39 appearances – including in all three play-off matches.

Having tied down another member of his first team squad for the foreseeable future, City boss Alex Neil added: "He's a big player for us, so we're really pleased.

"Alex is someone I've used regularly when he's been available. The last time we were in the Championship he was great for us, and he performed extremely well last season too."

The contract is subject to the approval of all the relevant footballing authorities.
