EURO 2016 ROUND-UP: SUNDAY

12 June 2016

City forward completes 90 minutes in France

STRIKER Kyle Lafferty played the full match as Northern Ireland began their Euro 2016 campaign in Nice with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Poland in Group C on Sunday.

Michael O'Neill's side stood firm to keep the likes of Robert Lewandowski at bay throughout the opening 45 minutes, only for Arkadiusz Milik's strike shortly after half-time to prove decisive.

Appearing in their first major tournament in 30 years, Northern Ireland face Ukraine on Thursday ahead of rounding off the group stage by meeting world champions Germany the following week.
