Trio of City players make the last 16

THREE Norwich City players will be aiming to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 when the tournament resumes this weekend.

Kyle Lafferty's Northern Ireland meet Wales in Paris on Saturday (5pm), having progressed as one of the best third-place finishers following a determined showing in Group C.

Despite narrow defeats to Poland and Germany, an excellent 2-0 victory over Ukraine in their second match ultimately proved enough to take them into the knock-out stages.

The Republic of Ireland also secured one of third-place berths on offer, courtesy of a famous 1-0 success against Italy on Wednesday night - coupled with a 1-1 draw versus Sweden in their opening game.

City's players were heavily involved throughout for The Boys In Green; Wes Hoolahan scoring in their first match of the tournament before turning provider for City teammate Robbie Brady against the Azzurri.

Ireland will now face competition hosts France on Sunday (2pm) in Lyon, buoyed by their historic triumph over the 2006 World Cup winners.

The remaining Canaries representative at the Finals, Martin Olsson, saw his tournament come to an end on Wednesday when Sweden were beaten 1-0 by Belgium.
