Midfielder qualifies from his time with York City

NORWICH City midfielder Ben Godfrey has been shortlisted for Sky Bet League Two's LFE 'Apprentice of the Year' Award.

For an individual to be shortlisted, the record of the player in all competitions since he became an apprentice is taken into account.

Additionally, players are judged on their educational attainment, disciplinary record and any other outstanding achievements.

Godfrey, who signed for the Canaries on his 18th birthday in January, qualifies in recognition of the time he spent with York City this season having progressed through their Academy into the first team.

Since joining Norwich the youngster has featured for Dmitri Halajko's Development Squad on several occasions, in addition to representing the Club in the FA Youth Cup.

Previous winners of the League Two Apprentice of the Year Award include City's own Ryan Bennett, who picked up the accolade for the 2007-08 season while with Grimsby Town.

The Football League Awards evening will take place in Manchester on Sunday, April 17.

Norwich City Football Club would like to congratulate Ben on his nomination, and wish him good luck for the final decision in April!
