Robbie Brady's strike secures three points against the Baggies

JONNY Howson says Norwich City's crucial 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday provides the ideal platform for the remaining seven games of the Barclays Premier League season.

The Canaries ended a testing run of league form courtesy of Robbie Brady's strike early in the second half, with a resolute defensive display helping to lift them out of the division's relegation zone.

Speaking to Norwich City TV after the match, Howson said: "It's a very nice feeling whenever you win games.

"We maybe got what we've deserved. Our performance was probably at a similar level to recent weeks, and we just feel like we got the rub of the green.

"In the past few games we wanted the ball to drop for us in the box. Luckily we got that today, but in the last two games we've been defensively solid.

"We've got to build on this now, having built on last week very well."

Howson insists belief has never wavered inside the City camp, with the squad possessing the character required to ensure their campaign ends in positive fashion.

"The fight, determination and work-rate is always there with us," the 27-year-old explained.

"It's just a case that it perhaps shows a bit more when you win games. To be able to go over to the fans having won was great because they've been there for us in recent weeks.

"We'll just concentrate on what we do, irrespective of other teams. We've got a couple of weeks until the next game so it's good to go into the break with a win.

"We need all the lads to give everything, and they're doing that."
