Lafferty joins Championship play-off hopefuls

BIRMINGHAM City have moved to sign Canaries forward Kyle Lafferty on an emergency loan until the end of the season.

Lafferty, who is currently with the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly double-header against Wales and Slovenia, has made just three appearances for the Club this season.

He joins a Blues outfit harbouring play-off ambitions in the Sky Bet Championship - Gary Rowett's side are currently six points off the top six with a game in hand. Lafferty's loan spell will include any play-off matches should Birmingham reach that stage.

City will have the option to recall the former Burnley and Rangers man once 28 days of the loan spell have elapsed.

The 28-year-old signed for Norwich from Palermo in the summer of 2014 but spent the second half of the 2014/15 campaign on loan at Turkish side Caykur Rizespor.

In total he has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Club to date, scoring two goals.

Lafferty is the second player to leave the Canaries on a temporary deal on Thursday ahead of the 5pm loan deadline, with Remi Matthews joining Doncaster Rovers for the rest of the campaign.
