City winger on target in Toulon Tournament

NATHAN Redmond scored with a spectacular 30-yard strike as England's Under-21s cruised to a 7-1 victory over Guinea Under-23s in the Toulon Tournament on Monday.

After falling behind inside the first 60 seconds, Jack Grealish and James Ward-Prowse netted to put the young Lions in front before City winger Redmond, who had earlier hit the post, unleashed an unstoppable drive on 34 minutes.

Grealish bagged his second before half-time, and even though the influential Redmond was withdrawn nine minutes after the interval, England were relentless as an own goal plus a Cauley Woodrow brace completed the rout.

Gareth Southgate's youngsters, who beat Portugal in their tournament opener last Thursday, will now face Paraguay Under-23s on Wednesday, May 25 (6:45pm) and Japan Under-23s on Friday, May 27 (4:15pm), with the target of reaching Sunday's final.
