City manager previews Derby clash

ALEX Neil says Derby County's strength can be their weakness as he prepares his side to face them at the iPro Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

Since reappointing Steve McClaren as boss last month Derby have rapidly improved their proficiency in front of goal, scoring eight times in their last three matches, all wins

Previewing this weekend's game, Neil told Norwich City TV: "The players are more suited to the manner in which they now play.

"I think they're good going forward, they're quite open as a team so there are definitely opportunities to go and try and counter and hurt them.

"They've got some good players in their squad, as have we, so it will make for a good game. We're certainly going there to win it and I'm sure they'll be doing the same."

With the Canaries having lost their last four Sky Bet Championship matches, Neil knows a turnaround is needed quickly - and he says one positive result can make the difference when it comes to momentum.

"Monday to Friday, generally in the main, they're trained really well. The difference is really on Saturday, and they look determined and ready so hopefully we can back that up with a good performance.

"(A result) stops the rot, if you like, and then builds up a bit of momentum. Hopefully you can go and kick on from there. We were going really, really well, and then one bad result has made it spiral a little bit.

"We need to make sure we halt that and then put the momentum the other way."
